Annick Debonné is a self-taught artist and choose the technique that suited her best: painting with oil paint. Her work refers to a freezed dream world in which the actions of her anonymous characters is important. Although she follows the figures from close by, she chooses for distance. Her choice of color, well thought-out compositions and discrete freeze lears us little more about the context. Debonné leaves this to the spectator's imagination.
With her expressive brush strokes and cold color palette she manages to find a balance between intimacy and alienation. Her art works is an exercise in observation.
