Henny Salimans lives and works in Lochem (Netherlands). She creates both figurative and abstract work, with a penchant for the theme 'horse'. In her figurative works she places her subject(s) in a seemingly insignificant decor. This creates a somewhat mystical atmosphere.
From the urge to renew she created work in a more abstract form. A strong sense of composition and refined beauty is reflected in the Wave series (since 2008), in which the theme 'horse' is worked out in a more abstract form. The paintings from this serie are often subdued by subtle colour nuances and a fascinating game of lines. Here both tension and stillness can be found together. The Wave series has as subtitle: Horses endlessly repeated as a never ending motion or waves. Characteristic to Henny's work is the matte appearance due to the used technique chalk .
