Wilfried Jacops (° 1955) studied at the Academy in Dendermonde. He began as a stonemason and restorer of monuments, but now works as an independent sculptor. The artist has a penchant for blue limestone which he works in taille-directe. Recently he started working in acrylic-one.
Distinctive themes in his work are emergence, growth and birth, often viewed from the germ form, personal emotions and the life circle of Alpha to Omega. Jacops uses hands like symbolic carriers, receivers and protectors, and the sun as energy source.
